Teriyaki Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
- 2 teaspoons minced fresh garlic
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon black strap molasses
- 1/2 cup water, divided
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Directions
- Combine the soy sauce, sugar, ginger, garlic, vinegar, and molasses in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add 1/4 cup of the water. Stir well to dissolve the sugar and bring the mixture to a simmer, 3 to 4 minutes.
- Combine the cornstarch with the remaining 1/4 cup water and add the mixture to the saucepan. Fold in the sesame seeds (if using). Bring the sauce to a boil to thicken, 3 to 4 minutes. Lt the sauce cool, and refrigerate it for up to 1 week or freeze it for up to 1 month.
